How do we tell our nation's story?

After reading Allan Wolf's book New Found Land, one of the ways students were asked to demonstrate understanding was by writing a poem in the style of the author of the book. Students were also asked to show an understanding of the unit question "How do we tell our nation's story?" by writing the poem from the point of view of an artifact from the Lewis and Clark expedition. Students were also asked to include a clear theme and at least three types of figurative language in their poem. With the help of my Ohio State student-observer, we have compiled the poems into an e-book. Please click below to enjoy the poems!
